My Hero
by Jeannette Singleton
Once there was a princess in a land across the sea.
Who dreamed of magic kingdoms, and great wonders that could be.
She knew there would be dragons, even demons in her way
But somewhere was a knight that would fight to save the day.

So she searched for her Hero;
Her knight in shining armor!
Courageous, strong, and true,
He would save her from her demons,
Then set her on his stallion and carry her
Off to his Kingdom and their Crown.

She held tightly to her dream, when princes came to call.
There were many tall and handsome. She searched among them all.
Then she saw him--brave and strong. He stood taller than the rest.
His face shone with faith and courage that could help her on her quest.

She knew she'd found her Hero;
Her knight in shining armor.
Courageous, strong, and true,
He would save her from her demons,
Then set her on his stallion and carry her
Off to his Kingdom and their Crown.

The dragons came with fire, and the demons, how they roared!
They threw him from his stallion, and ripped away his sword.
Fire seared his armor; it looked as if he'd died.
Our princess gave up hope. She bent over him and cried,

“Where is my Hero?
My knight in shining armor!
Courageous, strong, and true,
He could save us from our demons,
Then set me on his Stallion and carry me
Off to his Kingdom and our Crown."

In the anguish of despair, when she'd all but stopped believing,
She felt a tender hand and looked up to see her King!
Her knight, midst pain and suffering, had brought her to His feet.
She understood true love then—his sacrifice complete.

Their King removed the damaged armor, and healed their many wounds.
Their broken hearts now humble, He filled with love and bound,
Then filled them both with glory that immersed their souls in light.
She recognized her knight then, and smiled with delight . . .
Yes! You are my Hero!
My knight in shining armor!
Humble, meek, and true,
You knew it was our Savior,
Who could save us from our demons,
and carry us,
Off to His Kingdom and our Crown.
